ABOUT
How Controversy Of Fun Began
Created in November 2012, Controversy of Fun was created as part of a multi-genre research project for a class at the University of Northern Iowa. The project required students to research a topic extensively and apply the information to different genres of presentation targeted at specific audiences. Callie chose to create this website as a genre of presentation with my target audience being parents and other concerned parties who wanted to learn more about the development of these controversies and how true they were.

Since 2010, Callie J. Paar has been studying Anthropology at UNI, and will graduate with her B.A. in Anthropology and in Studio Art in December of 2012. Since 2011, she has been studying role-playing game culture following several years of personal involvement. Her foci in these studies have been understanding the cultural impact of RPGs on mainstream American society, the personal impact of identity formation through risk-free exploration, and the social impact of the claims discussed in this website on gaming culture as a whole
Who is Callie J. Paar?
At this time, I am uncertain as to whether I will be able to continue my research or not after graduating. If I am able to do so, Controversy of Fun will see updates and possibly its own domain name as I continue to present new information regarding the controversies of RPGs, including sections dedicated to MMORPGs, LARPGs, and more. I will also then provide a method of contacting me personally, but at this time I don't feel it would be fair to viewers for me to create an email address that I might not check frequently enough to address comments, questions, and concerns.
